My HealtheVet and the VA Blue Button

Blue

Just a short note to report that today we checked out the Blue Button feature.  We were able to view more VA health information online today but not able to download the information because the system is overloaded.  With over 1 million users, they can’t handle the traffic.  We’ll try again tomorrow morning and email our Congressman (Kline, a veteran) to report this issue.

Here’s the message:

You are reading this because the number of My HealtheVet users has exceeded our capacity while we undergo system upgrades. Please try again later in the day. We appreciate your understanding as we work to make My HealtheVet the best personal health record possible.

Thank you for all that you do for our country.

We looked at lab results and used secure messaging but a lot more information is reported when using the VA Blue Button.  You have to have a premium account–a “P” will be next to the veterans name.

This is a great service but alas, not functioning as it should!

I gave up on trying to use the Blue button at the Audie L. Murphy Memorial VA Hospital in San Antonio Texas. The doctors don’t respond to secure messaging, none of the medications, vitals, etc ect are listed. Less than one third of the labs are listed. All I see is “No data available”. I signed up for the Premium account three years ago.

I do hope the vA gets the Blue Button working for my Veterans sake.

It doesn’t matter to me anymore because I collected all my vA med. recs., including mri, xray, medical procedures, labs work, etc, and now I have hard copies of everything.

After getting Medicare and Supplemental insurance I quit (fired) the vAMC and use only civilian doctors now. It is good for one’s health to fire them if you can. Medicare has sent me four checks because they said I overpaid and was charged to much, and they reimbursed me.

I continue to use the vA Hepatoligist and Psychiatrist. I like my Hepatologist, she is good, and competent. I don’t need the Psychiatrist but they come with the Hepatologist as standard operating procedure. Those two are the only Doctors I will ever use at the vA again.

I pray that all my Veterans here can someday fire the vA and transition to the civilian world.

    Godspeed and Happy Trails.

Thanks for your valuable input. In MN, secure messaging works well and the staff is very responsive. I don’t know if all the labs are listed however. Probably not. Our complaint is being able to download the information that has been uploaded into the myhealthyevet system. Otherwise we have to resort to tedious screen saves.

Your Welcome. I hope they get it working in MN for you soon, and everywhere. Thank You for this article and bringing this issue to Your congress person. It would be great if more folks wrote their state and Federal representatives often, and every time they find incompetence and injustice at the vA.

How well it works depends a) on which server you’re connected to and b) how many users are attempting to access it. Different results in different parts of the country are normal. The only one that constantly crashes presently is VBMS.

I think it stinks. I haven’t logged in for months. Works just as well as any of the other web apps they have designed in Mumbai. They are always “upgrading” because nothing ever works right to begin with.

    Works fine for me
