Member Frank sends us this important clip from the New York Times on Aid and Attendance pension benefits. VA, as is always the case, is busy in their 3-card Monte game and switching benefits around under the watchful eye of VASEC. Get started early and have all the forms “prefilled” out and in a file against that day when you need to do it pronto.

I have been receiving AA for the past 15 years now and in 2008 I applied for a higher level of AA and was awarded from the L rating to the M because my rating is 100% plus 60% which makes me eligible but I still have an appeal going on since 2008 and if they do approve either an R-1 or R-2 rating the retro pay will be considerable, so that is why I don’t think they will give it to me. It will be close to 400k if they decide right now but according to the eBenefits website it is at the number 3 with the DAV writing their response and have been for about a year now. Wish there was a way to hurry this up, hell I will be dead before they decide and then again that is probably what they would like.

Yeppers. There’s a lot of you Vets who think the same thing about that delay, deny game. Tell DAV to file a 20.900(c) advance on the docket due to your medical condition. I bet they’ll puke and then ask you where you heard about that. Best of luck, sir.

Widows and widowers really get the shaft with those “case closed” letters. In defense of Hickey, she did ask Congress to pass this reform.

Did that sign really say that? Files not wanded, must be VA speak.
