2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 80,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

I would like to thank my fellow guest writers Kiedove and Joe Average Vet for their contributions. I invite others to submit articles or become guest authors as well. This site is a compendium of all our efforts-yours and mine. I depend on you, my fellow Vets, for much of what I post here. Concise knowledge of VA law, while important, is not all this site was predicated on. My irrepressible humor bleeds through as most know.

Thank you for a wonderful year. I had no idea 80,000+ people felt an urge to learn about hepatitis and VA law. Maybe they came for my arcane humor. On behalf of my fellow authors, I hope we passed the audition. We look forward to another year of success for all of you fighting the good fight. We will strive to print more that may help you understand the maze you have entered and give you the tools to win with. Some have stated that they cannot find my email or a way to contact me with questions. The email is asknod@gmail.com. If you lose it, look above under the Vietnam Campaign Ribbon and click on “email asknod”. What could be easier? All those widgets up there are active. If you put your cursor on them and left-click your mouse, you will discover a world of information you never dreamed of. I strive to keep link rot to a minimum here. If you find it, by all means inform us so we may repair it. Knowledge is power and we want you to have it. VA doesn’t. That’s all I have to say about that.

I can see I gave up my number one slot this year to a very worthy Vet! 🙂

I didn’t think my involvement was all that much this year.

Back in April the GI doc said my liver was just fine…Great prognosis an all. The C&P examiner echoed that and stated my liver enzymes just began to elevate in 2009. Well, the truth is 2009 was when I was diagnosed with HCV. Who knows how long my LFTs have been in the crapper? Then in October “golly gee Mr. Squid, we need to do some MRIs and look for liver tumors”. My question to Mr. Liver doc specialist extraordinaire was why are my platelets as low as whale dung in the Marianna Trench? The answer: “I dunno, might all be in your spleen which would explain why it is so big. Oh, uh, we never did do a liver biopsy?” It was time to hunt down a new liver genius…I now have a different GI specialist. This one was educated at the University of Minnesota (great residencies also) where they have some professors that can actually spell Hepatitis. I am finally going to get a biopsy and a MELD score.

Maybe Mr. Nod could write a book on how to live long enough to see your claim approved? I know there are many of you Vets who are much worse off. I am sick as hell and I can’t even imagine what you guys and gals are going through. Just know I will pray for your health as well as my own.

Everyone’s comments and “likes” are eagerly read too. They are an important part of this activity so don’t be shy.

I see I am in the top 5 pain in the ass injured vet. I used to be in the IFN sick, lame and lazy study back in 1995. From what I know today I am one of the few still not pushing up daisies. Yes NOD there is a God because He is the only on who seems to like me. Thanks for letting me vent instead of stuffing it…

God must want you to keep working on this blog with your genuine and dedicated comment posts that add so much to the discussions. We all have to vent.
