BOISE IDAHO HCV HOEDOWN

Mark your calendars in Boise, Squid and Mike! Alert member Mikey sent me this and wondered if everyone was getting one. I’m sorry, Mike but every time someone with that name shows up I think of the cereal commercial where the two little boys are watching their brother and one says “Mikey. Hey, Mikey. He likes it.”

The short answer, Mike, is no. I have not seen one of these. Perhaps they have no nurses/counselors or other medical personnel available for the task hereabouts.

Come one! Come All! See the magic Vets with HCV! Meet and Greet a real vA Hepatologist for a day.

Alaska Air has daily connecting flights to Boise non-stop from Sea- Tac airpatch and one stops in Portland, Oregon en route as well. For an extra $50.00, they’ll upgrade you to First Class. Overnight accommodations are available at the Boise Marriott Resort and Spa from $289.00 per night double occupancy. This is where all the big vAOIG functionaries stay and get their pedicures when they come to Boise. That is, when they’re not in Orlando investigating shindigs there.

Mark your calendars and use this opportunity to ask them about nexus letter availability and willingness to jeopardize their jobs for doing it. Why not ask these burning questions? This is a Show and Tell opportunity like no other in Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 20. I notice by looking at the map that I have recently been gerrymandered out of VISN 21 and am part of Squidley’s now. Shoot. For less than a $1000.00 I can hop over and attend, too. Thanks Mikey.

Sorry Folks, the VA won’t answer my phone calls. So I don’t have any new news on WTF they are doing. Called my clinic non of my primaries were there Dr or nurse. (they are playing musical chairs with my Dr). Lone nurse says nothing written in my file on when ,where or why.I recently heard back on an enquiry on my DRO Hearing and this might have to do with it. Maybe they are trying to catch me missing an appointment or refusing treatment so that they can deny me again.I don’t think they realize I have one official and one unofficial expert telling me the current cocktails of meds are worthless on me.About a couple years away from my special meds which give me the best odds and no STINKIN” NEEDLES!! I eat Pasture food 5 days a week to keep from using needles for my Army Issue DMII. So if they want any needles in my treatments they must come with a nurse and a housekeeper. Because I have no support system. Well if any news pops up I’ll share!! Mikey

My hepatologist pushed for me to get the IFN BS treatment but when I called him on the fact that my platelet count was really low it was like I had just finished having a one on one with his daughter. The look on his face told the entire story right then and there, the buffoon (yes he is a licensed doctor) had not even read through the labs or the overall medical history. Guess I will never hear from him again. Laughed my butt off all the way home and happy to be away from that kind of “treatment”. I cringe when the wife suggests liver for dinner.

Whats nice about this VMAC is if you don’t have Hep C, they’ll issue you it so you too can participate TOO!!! They gave me mine and at NO CHARGE!! Yes, the Dr who gave me mine still works there and No his name is not ICmore Butz! My Genotype is still about 2 years away from approval so I will be turning them down even though I got a personalized letter with the invitation. One of the funny things I noticed was that they were going to teach us how to inject our drugs.(Aren’t we all already experts at that)? Maybe they just want it as a confirmation for disability denial purposes. That way record will reflect that Veteran knows how to inject drugs!! They are so helpful.Yeppers no HIP/HEP C Drs,but we do have RN= Real Nurse and FNP= Friggin New Person. I will be calling them tomorrow to get the LOWDOWN on this HOEDOWN! I was insulted when I got this invitation yesterday. Guess I just don’t know how to appreciate the Gift of a Death Sentence! Ahh Shucks! Mikey doesn’t like it!

Wonder if they’ll include military service as a risk factor…

I thought that sun and hot stuff was put on there for a joke….I didn’t take it seriously. They wouldn’t dare treat cancer patients this way! What that flyer is really designed to do is to scare people away so they don’t have to deal with as many patients. I think it will be quite successful in that regard, and they will get the same amount of money for it no matter how many show up.

This is a weird “invitation”–mandatory attendance if you are considering treatment. Maybe one day you’ll get a private class if you’re being nit-picky about privacy. No kids. They can stay ignorant. No refreshments offered as an enticement for the 90-minute class. (Need to save up for VA training in Orlando ’13.)

The magic phrase is “Hepatitis C treatment coordinators” for the VAMCs. They are all nurses and below. No PAs and above. The VA (at my VAMC anyway) won’t waste money for a highly paid specialist like a hepatologist on a lowly HCV patient. I was seen once by a PA who was contracted out to a CBOC but that was at a different VAMC in another VISN. Not all VAMCs in the same VISN are created equal however. At my VAMC any specialist is about as rare as hens teeth. There are some of the best specialists in the country just 6 blocks down the street, but the director refuses to spend the money to contract out to them. No skin off his nose, that’s for dang sure! I am in VISN 23. Was at 19 for a very short time. I was refused treatment at 22 so went back to 23 (physical address). The VAROs (VBA) have their own coverage areas (which are different from the VISNs) and they tend to change like the wind these days. My RO happens to be in the same complex as the VAMC (for now).
