This one is apparently controversial, but at least one Vet indicates their Veteran Service Officer told them the VA has put all appeals on hold. Some have speculated that the president wants to “catch up” on the backlog to improve his re election chances.
What we do know is so far, the current administration has not improved the VA claims backlog in spite of promises to reduce the backlog. In fact, the VA claims backlog has grown worse, even much worse, since 2009. According to the Monday Morning Workload Reports, the VA claims backlog on Jan. 5, 2009 was 390,190. However, As of August, 2012, that backlog has grown to a whopping 903,661, more than TWICE as bad as before.
But Wait, there’s More!
The BVA website is apparently down, and some have speculated the reason for this is because the 2012 BVA decisions were unavailable on the site and Vets have complained.
Since BVA decisions are posted electronically, it would not be a surprise if the VA could not do decisions if their computer system is down.
While the VBN site owner denies that VA appeals are on hold in ONE post, on another VBN post also suggesting VA appeals have been put on hold, the VBN site owner was silent.
While it is unclear if the BVA website is down because of a “computer glitch” or if it is a
“delay for the sake of politics“, one thing is clear: The Veteran is the loser, and 513,471 MORE Veterans are are now in the long waiting line for benefits than just 3.5 years ago.
It does not appear to help by delaying appeals, so that the VA’s “initial numbers” will look good.

My Power of Attorney is the VVA. The state (Ohio) rep just told me to expect nothing until 2015 on my appeal.
I was recently informed that the reason why the BVA site has not been updated is that the contract for the VA or BVA ran out and they were awaiting the award of the new contract and then the site will be updated. How true it is remains a mystery kind of like what real happened to JFK. It would now appear to all Americans that our enemy is here at home any administration that has to hide facts from the citizens of its country are operating like a Nazi regime.
so great full for these posts i thought it was just me that was going through this this week. i have two cases and two appeals with the dro and i have been trying to get them to reschedule a comp appt. that they admitted to making a mistake on then you got the dependent claim i got and they are just sitting on that too.
I was told yesterday by DAV that no appeals will be processed until the new claims are done—
“Something’s afoot” as in Trojan Horse, me thinks! Last week the CDC recommends that “Baby Boomers” get tested for HCV without telling the public why. This week Boise wants to round up the herd so they can put each steer into the chute. Rather than going out to catch up with each “Maverick” individually. Now the VA claims appeal’s process has been effectively “shutdown” without a whisper of why and when it will resume again. Just mere coincidence with impeccable timing?
All conspiracy theories aside for the moment. The DRO review process is usually the recommended appeal process touted by VSOs. If the DRO process is put on hold that means the BVA appeal’s process is also on hold. I say this because the DRO reviews the decision files before the appeal is certified to the BVA when a Veteran opts for a traditional appeal. Also if the DRO Review Decision is a denial, then the next step the Veteran may take is to get a BVA hearing. Either way all unfavorable RO decisions go into limbo until when?
Add in another sad factoid. All NODs are reviewed by DROs before a denial and SOC are issued. That will hold up that process as well. It’s like watching an automobile motor with no oil do the chicken before it seizes up. Very interesting.
