vA–GSA HAS NOTHING ON US

This just in from Houston and the ever-watchful eye of WGM. In all fairness, he spotted it on Ben’s Blog so we must be honest.

In a show of one-upsmanship, the vA transported 1800 of its employees to the Marriott World Center for a four-day seminar in spa technique-not once but twice- to the tune of $5 mil.  They also set aside $4 million more for future HR events of this caliber.  Very far-sighted indeed.

This on the heels of the GSA’s paltry $823,000.00 extravaganza in Las Vegas, was a classic example of “Our agency is better than your agency and we spend way more”. Yes, in a show of extreme gratitude, the vA let down their hair and relaxed their stance towards drinking on the job. And what better way to bitchslap Veterans?

In an interview with a Decision Review Officer  from the Waco RO who wished to remain anonymous, he was ebullient about his experience: ” Dude- we were Extremely Trashed or Hammered the whole time we were there. Get it? ETOH?  My friends were playing golf and they took the cart into a water hazard. Awesome! I even got a tattoo on their dime.”

A good time was had by all

In lieu of the need for these training sessions on a fairly regular basis, Congress is rumored to be eyeing an increase to cover them. The President said he feels they are essential to unit cohesion and promote a more relaxed and better understanding of the rating process. “Good raters are happy raters and we want 98% accuracy”. said the VA Secretary at the news conference announcing the future seminars. We at Asknod concur wholeheartedly. Even money says the Undersecretary for Veterans Benefits Denials was a keynote speaker on the subject of Denial Motivation.

For this, we feel the monthly Alfred E. Neuman “What? Me worry about Public Opinion? Award should be shared co-equally by Aunt Allison and Uncle Eric. Their selfless devotion to duty and a desire to make sure each and every one of us get what’s coming to us is indeed heartwarming.

Next Year it’s Mazatlan, dude.

  1. well well, so this is why there was no one at the Waco TX VARO was there to answer my questions. The DAV must have went with them since they were not there for two weeks and when I did get hold of them my rep could not answer any question. First I was told the VARO had everything they needed to complete my appeals and claims, then I was told my case was remanded back to the BVA. The next time I called I was told that quality review pulled my files and then it would be remanded. I called the BVA and was told they have not recieved or requested any thing. So I call back and guess what? It still sits in Waco TX on some DRO’s desk that proably needs a week to get over the party! The DAV and the Waco TX VARO just do what they want on OUR dime!

      Dear Robert,
Welcome to the wacky world of Waco VARO. As for the DAV? You have hired leaglezoom.com to do your claim. They cannot be expected to be Jedi masters at this because they have no legal training. They mean well but they are as useless as screen doors in submarines.

      • Ahh yes I believe I have discovered that much to my dismay. I will update you on what has went down. Back in 2008, my appeals were remanded back to Muskogee OK VARO. After sitting there for over a year, I was informed that my files were sent to Little Rock AR VARO to be fast tracked. This was in 2010. Then in Nov of 2011 three months after an C&P exam for one of my issues, I recieved a letter informing me that my files were now at the Waco TX VARO for further devolopement. So I call back in June to inquire. Since then I have been told three different stories about what is happening with my claims. First I was told they had everything they needed and that quality review had my files. So another 60 days goes by and then I am told they are with a DRO. I called yesterday and was told they were being remanded back to the BVA for further devolopement, then he corrected himself and said quality review pulled my files and then would be remanded back to the BVA and that he had no idea of how long or when this would be over. These claims were in Nov 2004 and Dec 2005 including an 1151 claim for medical negligence. So I am now trying to find a lawyer to get this finished. A local lawyer here reffered me to Woods&Woods in Indiana. The lawyer here just has too large a case load to help me. They should be calling me soon. This was supposed to be completed in 90 days, and we are now looking at 120 days since they got my files. I fear that they have lost my files and just stalling me. The time period here is just totally whacked.

My guess is your suspicions as to where these mythological C-files reside is probably right. With that many excursions afield to exotic settings like Little Rock and Muskogee, not to mention the Whacko RO, chances are its had a brush or two with the Shredder room. I pray you were smart enough to ask for a complete copy of the C-file under the FOIA Act? Like, a year ago? Two? Five?

Let me see? How may Vets do the VSRs have to deny to keep one VSO in the Regional Office with a zippered lip? POTUS was sort of telling the truth to the VFW in that the budget for wild gambling parties in exoctic places was not sequestered. My only question is where are all of those photogenic hookers this time? With post haste, all c-files from all VAROs are being sent to Winston-Salem for digitizing and proper storage.
